Grrrls on the web...
Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 09:06PM I came across a couple of cool sites today that I wanted to share with everyone:
Thanks to Mary and her blog Girls Make Media for pointing me in the direction of The Girl Project. The website is based upon a project by New York based photographer who is giving teen girls disposable cameras and getting them to document their lives. After taking a roll of photos girls send the camera back and the strongest images will be published as a book and traveling exhibition on adolescent girlhood in America. Very cool! Also check out the corresponding blog which has been publishing some of the fabulous photos coming in so far as well as other news relating to girlhood issues.

I also just found the Packaging Girlhood blog, which is written by two US psychologists who penned the 2006 book of the same name. They keep up-to-date on how ad campaigns target and represent girls, and is a good resource for anyone interested in girlhood and advertising issues.
Email me if you know of a great girlhood site that would be of interest to others!
